Late Blow For Woodman And Co

Written by Newcastle Utd

England under-17s were beaten by a late strike in their third and final game of the Algarve Tournament, with Freddie Woodman in goal for the Young Lions

England's under-17s suffered late agony in their final game of the Algarve Tournament.

Young Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman was in goal for the Young Lions as they took on Germany knowing that a win would see them lift the trophy.

Both sides had four points each from their first two matches and the game was goalless heading into the final eight minutes.

Then Benedikt Gimber poked home from close range before Woodman made a great save from Finn Porath to keep his side in the game.

But England couldn't force an equaliser and will return home empty-handed.
