By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor
At St. James' Park

Newcastle United 0
Tottenham Hotspur 4 (Adebayor 19, 82, Paulinho 53, Chadli 88)

SECOND HALF UPDATES

WHISTLE-MDC-icons90+3mins: It's finished here at St. James' Park and Newcastle have been well beaten by Spurs. Click here for the match report.

90+1mins: It could and probably should be 5-0. Spurs break, with Chadli crossing low from the left and no less than three Spurs players arriving at the far post. It's Townsend who takes the shot and Krul parries well.

90mins: There will be three minutes added on.

GOAL-MDC-icons88mins - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR GOAL (0-4): Chadli sends a stunning shot flying into the top corner to make it 4-0 - there was nothing Krul or any keeper in the world could have done to keep that out and now it'a 4-0 to Spurs.

87mins: Sissoko pulls the ball back from the left for Marveaux, who tries to dink the ball over Lloris but the keeper gets enough behind it to block the ball. Spurs then mount an attack of their own

SUB-MDC-icons84mins: Adebayor comes off to be replaced by Roberto Soldado.

GOAL-MDC-icons82mins - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR GOAL (0-3): After Townsend stings the palms of Krul with a well-struck shot, the ball drops for Adebayor who lofts home his second of the night. That's harsh on United, who were pushing for a goal of their own and were caught out.

81mins: Bentaleb hits one from 30 yards but it flies into the Leazes end.

80mins: Debuchy pings over a brilliant cross for Cisse, whose header is expertly pushed away by Lloris. He has been inspired in this second half.

SUB-MDC-icons75mins: Nacer Chadli comes on for Lennon.

74mins: Lloris makes an even better stop to keep out Debuchy's header from point blank range after a great cross from Ben Arfa. That looked destined for the back of the net.

73mins: Gouffran unleashes a thunderbolt from 25 yards which Lloris does well to push away - good goalkeeping to deny his compatriot.

SUB-MDC-icons71mins: After another decent showing, Ameobi makes way for Sylvain Marveaux in Newcastle's final change.

70mins: Newcastle believe they should have another corner as Dummett's cross appears to be touched behind by a Spurs defender as Cisse and Gouffran close in, but Swarbrick awards a goal kick, which sums up United's luck tonight.

66mins: Dummett wins a corner then meets Ben Arfa's delivery with a diving header, but it's blocked. The young full-back has done well since his introduction, getting up and down the left flank.

SUB-MDC-icons64mins: Spurs make a change of their own as Dembele comes off for Andros Townsend.

SUB-MDC-icons63mins: De Jong comes off after putting in a decent shift and is replaced by Hatem Ben Arfa. Gouffran seems to have moved up front alongside Cisse with Ben Arfa in a number ten role.

56mins: Dembele tries to cut inside but his held up by a combination of Dummett and Ameobi before seeing his shot deflected behind for a corner, which United defend well.

GOAL-MDC-icons53mins - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR GOAL (0-2): Paulinho starts and finishes the move which sees Spurs go 2-0 up. He plays in Adebayor, whose snapshot from the edge of the box is well parried by Krul but only as far as the midfielder, who taps home.

SUB-MDC-iconsWHISTLE-MDC-icons46mins: Paul Dummett has replaced Santon at half time, with Newcastle now attacking towards the Gallowgate end.

FIRST HALF UPDATES

WHISTLE-MDC-icons45+1mins: Santon shoots low and hard after a Newcastle corner was only partially cleared but Lloris gets down well to hold. Spurs then keep the ball until Neil Swarbrick blows his whistle and United trail at half time.

45mins: There will be one minute of stoppage time.

40mins: Santon slides a nice pass to Sissoko, who lays the ball off to De Jong and gets it straight back from the Dutchman before curling a decent effort over the bar. That was good play from United and the fans were quick to show their appreciation.

38mins: That man Ameobi plays a lovely ball out to Gouffran on the right and his low cross is deflected behind for a corner.

35mins: Ameobi, who has again been a bright light for Newcastle, tries his luck from 18 yards but it trickles wide.

32mins: The flag kick is half cleared by Yoan Gouffran as far as Etienne Capue, whose shot goes well over the bar.

31mins: Lennon skips inside after Spurs work the ball from right to left and the winger's low shot shaves the post, apparently having taken a touch off a Newcastle player as a corner is awarded.

26mins: Cisse races onto a good ball from Ameobi and gets to it ahead of Lloris, chipping the French goalkeeper only for the ball to drop the wrong side of the post.

24mins: Paulinho picks out of the run of Walker, whose low cross finds its way to Lennon at the far post but the winger is denied by a superb last ditch tackle from Mike Williamson, who appears from nowhere to come away with the ball.

GOAL-MDC-icons19mins - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR GOAL (0-1): Aaron Lennon flicks the ball neatly to Nabil Bentaleb, who streaks down the left, shrugs off a tackle from Moussa Sissoko and crosses low and hard. Krul pats the ball away but can only push it as far as Adebayor, who was never going to miss from eight yards out.

14mins: Kyle Walker wins a free kick as he's sandwiched by Sammy Ameobi and Santon, and the defender sends over an inviting free-kick which Spurs skipper Jan Vertonghen meets at the far post but the Belgian can only nod wide.

8mins: A much better contribution from Santon this time - he floats a free kick towards the head of Luuk de Jong, who climbs well at the far post to nod the ball across goal. Papiss Cisse connects but his effort is superbly blocked by Hugo Lloris. It's been a lively start from both sides.

6mins: Santon again fails to clear his lines, this time being muscled out by Younes Kaboul inside the box, and Paulinho's powerful drive is tipped behind by Tim Krul, who was so impressive at White Hart Lane earlier this season.

5mins: Davide Santon loses out to Mousa Dembele on the Spurs right and he cuts the ball back for Emmanuel Adebayor, whose shot is deflected just wide.

WHISTLE-MDC-icons1min: Tottenham, wearing all blue, take kick-off at St. James' Park with the rain and wind which has seen several matches postponed tonight having subsided, for now at least. Newcastle are kicking towards the Leazes end in this first period.
