Newcastle United have announced the launch of a new mobile gaming app, designed to encourage additional fan engagement during matches.
'Newcastle Connect' is an interactive mobile game that enables Magpies' fans who watch live matches to get more involved in the action than ever before.
By logging in via Facebook Connect or by creating a unique OneUp account, each player is provided with a unique '4x4 game board' made up of professional football players and certain match events.
As live events occur on the pitch, the game grid begins to highlight correctly predicted events. The aim of each round is to get four events highlighted in a row.
The app also features a live chat room in which friends, fellow fans and/or rivals share in game match day banter whilst they compete to get a 'connect'.
Available to download for Apple's iPhone and iPad devices, the social gaming platform is the result of collaboration with mobile developer OneUp Sports Network.
The Newcastle Connect application is due for release on Android in March.
