Under-21s Travel To Sunderland

Written by Newcastle Utd

In-form Jonathyn Quinn is hoping to help a strong Magpies under-21 side featuring Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara beat Sunderland on Monday night

Jonathyn Quinn is hoping to restore some derby pride for Newcastle when they take on Sunderland in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League on Monday (kick-off 7pm).

The Ashington-born 18-year-old hit a hat-trick as United beat the Black Cats 4-0 in the FA Youth Cup fourth round last month and is included in Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's squad for the game at the Stadium of Light.

Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett are also involved along with 16-year-old striker Adam Armstrong.

And, after the first team lost 3-0 to Gus Poyet's men on Saturday, Quinn is determined to go some way towards avenging that disappointing defeat.

"If I get the nod from Willie to play, I'm always confident I'll score against Sunderland and hopefully I can get a few on the night," he told nufc.co.uk.

Quinn scored his 14th goal of the season at all levels as United's under-18s beat Stoke 2-0 at the weekend and Jamie Sterry, Olivier Kemen and Macauley Booth also featured in that win.

Newcastle fans will be housed in the South Stand and prices are £3 for adults and £1 concessions.

The squad is: Jak Alnwick, Adam Armstrong, Macauley Booth, Paul Dummett, Alex Gilliead, Massadio Haidara, Olivier Kemen, Steven Logan, Jonathan Mitchell, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Michael Richardson, Callum Roberts, Lubo Satka, Jamie Sterry, Remie Streete.
