Newton Extends Loan

Written by Newcastle Utd

Conor Newton has agreed to stay at St. Mirren for the remainder of the season after extending his loan deal with the Buddies

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Conor Newton has extended his loan spell with St. Mirren until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old midfielder spent the first half of the campaign with the Buddies, having scored the winning goal for the Saints in last term's Scottish League Cup final.

Last weekend's defeat to Celtic was the final game of the original agreement but he will now remain at St. Mirren Park until the summer.

He has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three times.

Earlier this month, Newton was joined in Paisley by Magpies teenager Adam Campbell, who scored on his debut against Kilmarnock after joining on loan for the rest of the season.
