December was another positive month for Newcastle United, with three victories including that famous win at Old Trafford.
Starting with a disappointing midweek defeat at Swansea, the Magpies turned it around just three days later as they travelled to Premier League champions Manchester United.
Yohan Cabaye's second half strike secured a deserved victory, which ended a run of more than 40 years without a triumph in the red half of Manchester.
A home draw against Southampton was nothing to be sniffed at, and was followed by another away-day win, this time as Crystal Palace were brushed aside 3-0.
Boxing Day saw Stoke City come to Tyneside and, having fallen behind, United put their nine-man opponents to the sword, running out 5-1 winners to give a full St. James' Park some Christmas cheer.
However, the month ended in defeat as Arsenal took all three points in a narrow home encounter.
