Anthony Taylor will take charge of Newcastle United's FA Cup third round home tie against Cardiff City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the first time the Manchester-based official has overseen a Magpies' match this season. He was last in charge of a Newcastle fixture 12 months ago, as Alan Pardew's side played out a goalless draw at Norwich in the Premier League.
In total during the 2013/14 campaign, Taylor has been in the middle of 18 fixtures across the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, Championship, League One and Capital One Cup, handing out 65 yellow cards and three reds, awarding seven penalties.
The 35-year-old started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002, and worked his way up through the divisions before being appointed to the Football League list at the start of the 2006/07 season.
His first Premier League appointment came in February 2010, when Fulham beat Portsmouth 1-0, and the whistler was promoted to the Select Group of Referees for the start of the following term.
On Saturday at St. James' Park, Taylor will be assisted by David Bryan and John Flynn, with Jeremy Simpson the game's fourth official.
Tickets are still available for Saturday's FA Cup fixture, starting from just £5. To secure your seat, click here.
