Vurn Braced For A Battle

Written by Newcastle Utd

Midfielder Vurnon Anita says Newcastle will have to be prepared to fight tooth and nail against Crystal Palace on Saturday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

He comes from the Ajax academy of technique and skill, but Vurnon Anita believes that Newcastle will need to be ready for a battle when they head to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Under new boss Tony Pulis, the seemingly doomed Eagles have won three of their last five games and could climb out of the relegation zone with another victory at the weekend.

The Magpies have lost just once in their last seven matches but Anita - who will hope to keep his place at Selhurst Park despite Yohan Cabaye's return from suspension - knows that Palace will not make life easy for them.

"We've won a lot of matches and the spirit is very good," the Holland international midfielder told nufcTV. "But we must keep it up and work hard, and hopefully in the next game we will.

"I think it will be tougher than (the Southampton) game because they need the points and so do we.

"So it will be a hard game."

Meanwhile, Anita has backed team-mate Loic Remy to find the net in SE25.

The Frenchman - United's top scorer this term with eight goals - missed a couple of great chances in last weekend's draw with Southampton.

And Anita said: "He was unlucky, but he's a good player.

"He will come over it - and in the next game, he'll score."
