Half-Season Ticket Delivered In Safe Hands

Written by Newcastle Utd

United goalkeeper Tim Krul turned up on the doorstep of one lucky fan's home to deliver their half-season ticket

A Newcastle United supporter had a surprise home visit from Magpies' goalkeeper Tim Krul on Thursday after winning a competition to have a half-season ticket delivered by a current first team player.

Every fan who bought a new half-season ticket - which includes the Club's final ten home Barclays Premier League fixtures of the 2013/14 season - before Friday, 29th November, was automatically entered into the competition and stood a chance of receiving theirs from their favourite United star.

The lucky winner was Joanne O'Brien, of Gateshead, who received a knock on the door from Dutch international and November's Barclays Premier League Player of the Month, Krul.

"It was a huge shock," said Joanne.

"I think it's one of the most surreal experiences I'll ever have. I thought it was some sort of elaborate hoax but obviously not. I'm just overwhelmed, it's fantastic.

"I knew I'd won and I was hoping for Tim Krul. He's in fantastic form and it's on the back of the performance at Tottenham, where he was unbelievable.

"The half-season ticket was a gift. It was a surprise out of the blue from my partner. It's probably an unbeatable present now that I've had a player delivering it!"

The competition was one of four being run to launch the Club's new half-season ticket, with another lucky supporter last week winning a VIP visit to training.

Supporters purchasing a half-season ticket by 5pm on Friday (13th December) could win a signed shirt, with another special prize to be announced next week.

The half-season ticket package kicks-off on Sunday, 29th December, with the arrival of current league leaders Arsenal and includes the return clash with Manchester United following the Magpies' sensational victory at Old Trafford last weekend.

Games against Manchester City, Everton, Tottenham and the Tyne-Wear derby, which sold out within hours last season, are also included.

Junior tickets are priced from £64 and to thank them for their on-going loyalty, existing season ticket holders will benefit from a 30 per cent discount when purchasing adult and other concessionary half-season tickets for friends and family.

While standard adult half-season tickets are priced at £300, current season ticket holders can purchase adult half-season tickets start from as low as £244 - or £308 for an adult and child as part of a family ticket.

The 30 per cent discount will also extend across tickets for senior supporters and those aged 18-21 - with the freedom to select from seats across St. James' Park.

Existing season ticket holders can secure senior or young person's half-season tickets for these in-demand fixtures from just £176, representing a saving of £76 on the category's standard half-season ticket price of £252.

A half-season ticket at St. James' Park includes the following fixtures:

NEWCASTLE UNITED v ARSENAL, 1.30pm, Sunday 29th December
NEWCASTLE UNITED v MANCHESTER CITY, 2.05pm, Sunday 12th January
