Mathieu Debuchy's superb week got even better on Thursday when he was presented with the Newcastle United Player of the Month award for October.

The French defender helped France to overcome a 2-0 first leg defecit to qualify for this summer's World Cup on Tuesday evening with a victory over Ukraine in Paris.

Newcastle beat Cardiff and drew with Liverpool in October, with a derby defeat to Sunderland before a battling Capital One Cup defeat to Manchester City and the right-back was impressive in all four games while he's continued that form into November.

Sam Horrocks from Durham won the chance to present Debuchy with the monthly Wonga trophy, and he was also given a Wonga Player of the Month pennant signed by the player as a souvenir of his experience.

Wonga will be running competitions every month throughout the season so check the Wonga Football fan hub regularly for your chance to win some great prizes:
