Remy's Loic-ing For World Cup Win

Written by Newcastle Utd

Loic Remy believes firing France into next summer's World Cup finals would be a "very special" moment

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Newcastle United hot-shot Loic Remy believes firing France into next summer's World Cup finals would be a "very special" moment in his career.

Les Bleus face a play-off double-header over the next few days as they take on Ukraine away, on Friday, and at home, on Tuesday, with a place in the greatest show on earth, in Brazil, at stake for the winner.

One of four Magpies' stars in the French squad along with Mathieu Debuchy, Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko, Remy has netted seven times since his switch to Tyneside.

And he is desperate to transfer that prolific form onto the international stage.

"These are two big games," Remy told nufc.co.uk.

"I am conscious that they are two big games for my international career and for the national team.

"We go into them with confidence because we have a very good team and a lot of quality, with players like (Franck) Ribery, (Karim) Benzema and others.

"But if I have the chance to play and score for my team, and we make it to the World Cup, it could be very special."
