A Slovakia under-19 side featuring Newcastle defender Lubo Satka lost 2-1 to Bulgaria in a European Championships qualifier on Tuesday afternoon.

Satka, recently back from injury, played the whole game with Slovakia coach Milan Malatinsky insisting that his side did not deserve to lose to the hosts of the three-team group.

Albania are next up for Satka and his colleagues in Lovech on Thursday before Greece provide the opposition in Sevlievo on Sunday.

Speaking to nufc.co.uk from Bulgaria, 17-year-old Satka said: "We had the better of the play.

"We had four or five good chances but only scored once; Bulgaria had two chances and they converted both.

"It was just one of those games. We are still positive and will try our best to win the next game."
