United To Open Steelemen Stadium

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle will send a team to Consett later this month to open the Steelmen's new multi-millon-pound stadium

Having provided the opposition for Consett's final match at their old Belle Vue ground in May, Newcastle United will send a team to open the Steelmen's new stadium later this month.

The Northern League Division One side are moving into a multi-million-pound purpose-built venue at Crookhall, on the outskirts of the County Durham town.

As well as the first-team, the new site will house 39 junior teams, two ladies teams and a Reserve team on a 3G artificial field and eight floodlit six-a-side pitches.

The friendly will take place on Friday, November 22nd with a 7.45pm kick-off.

United were 6-0 winners when they visited the old ground six months ago, with the likes of James Tavernier, Romain Amalfitano and Remie Streete involved.

This time around, Peter Beardsley is expected to pull on his boots after performing the official opening.

Admission will be pay on the gate, with prices £6 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for children.
