It's Swarbrick For City

Written by Newcastle Utd

Lancashire-based official Neil Swarbrick will be the referee when Manchester City travel to St. James' Park on Wednesday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Neil Swarbrick will be the referee when Newcastle host Manchester City in the Capital One Cup fourth round on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Lancashire-based official - who only took up refereeing at the age of 29 - will be assisted by Lee Betts and Derek Eaton, while Mike Jones is the fourth official.

Ironically, Swarbrick's last Magpies match was United's trip to the Etihad Stadium in March.

Newcastle lost 4-0 that day, with Vurnon Anita and Yohan Cabaye booked.

Swarbrick has taken charge of eight games so far this term - five in the Barclays Premier League and three in the Championship - and shown 23 yellow cards and one red.

Tickets for Wednesday night's match at St. James' Park are on sale now. For more information, or to secure your seat, click here.
