Olivier Kemen captained France's under-18 side as they drew 2-2 with the USA on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder, who joined Newcastle from Metz during the summer, has only just returned from injury and made his first appearance since August in United's Barclays Under-18 Premier League defeat at Stoke last Saturday.

But he was given the armband in Les Bleus' opening game of a four-team tournament in Limoges.

France raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a Maxwell Cornet brace but the visitors levelled in the second half through Andrija Novakovich and Alan Winn. Kemen was booked in the 90th minute.

Poland and Czech Republic are the other teams involved.
