Cabaye: 'Remy Deserves World Cup Chance'

Loic Remy's form has earned him a recall to the France national squad, and compatriot Yohan Cabaye believes it's fully warranted

Five goals in his last three Barclays Premier League games has propelled Loic Remy back into the France national team - and Yohan Cabaye is hoping the Mapies pair can play together in next summer's World Cup.
Remy has 18 caps - and four goals - for Les Bleus but his last appearance came as a second half substitute in a 3-1 win over Georgia in March and prior to that he hadn't played for his country since 2011.
But Didier Deschamps has been unable to ignore the frontman's fantastic form for Newcastle and has selected him for a friendly against Australia on Friday and a vital qualifier against Finland next Tuesday.
And Cabaye, who has also earned a recall after missing out on the last two squads while he returned from injury, is relishing the prospect of linking up with Remy for his country and well as his Club.
"He's scored important goals - twice again (on Saturday) and he helped us to win the game so of course he deserves to be in the France squad," Cabaye told nufcTV.
"For me it's fantastic because I love to play forward and with him, it's so easy because he's quick.
"He can move very fast and very cleverly so it's very, very important for us. He gives us another way to play."
France are second in Group I, level on points with leaders Spain who have a game in hand, so it's a big few days for Cabaye and Co.
"It's going to be very important because the World Cup is not far now," he admitted.
"We have to play the last qualifying game; we are sure of the play-offs now but we never know and we're going to have to beat Finland at home and to wish for something.
"Now it's going to be very important to play well with Newcastle from the next game until the end to hopefully be in the squad for the World Cup."
