Under-21s Have Gift Of The Gab

Written by Newcastle Utd

Gabriel Obertan is included in the Newcastle under-21 squad to face Bolton Wanderers at Whitley Park on Monday night

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Gabriel Obertan will feature for Newcastle's second-string in Monday's Barclays Under-21 Premier League home game against Bolton Wanderers (kick-off 7pm).

The 24-year-old Frenchman will feature as an overage player at Whitley Park and will hope for a repeat of his last outing at this level, when he helped hmself to a clinical hat-trick against Crystal Palace in April.

Obertan, who appeared as a second-half substitute against Leeds United in the Capital One Cup last month, is one of five players with senior experience available to Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley against the Trotters.

Gael Bigirimana, who scored a stunning 35-yarder at West Bromwich Albion seven days earlier, is again involved as are James Tavernier, Adam Campbell and Curtis Good.

In-form Adam Armstrong will be hoping to add to his record of five goals in five under-21 games this term while Irish midfielder Brandon Miele is back in contention after injury.

Admission is free to season ticket holders and Members, or £3 for adults and £1 concessions via the turnstiles.

The squad is: Rolando Aarons, Jak Alnwick, Adam Armstrong, Gael Bigirimana, Adam Campbell, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Gilliead, Curtis Good, Ryan McKinnon, Brandon Miele, Jonathan Mitchell, Gabriel Obertan, Jonathyn Quinn, Callum Roberts, Remie Streete, James Tavernier
