Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has been called into the Wales senior squad for their World Cup qualifying double header against Macedonia and Belgium.

The left-back was originally on standby for Chris Coleman's side but was given the nod on Thursday afternoon and could make his debut in the Group A fixtures.

Dummett, who has previously represented Wales at youth and under-21 level, was drafted in to the senior party last month but remained an unused substitute, so is still waiting to win his first international cap.

The 21-year-old Academy product, impressed for the Magpies during their pre-season friendlies and went on to make his Premier League debut on the opening day of the campaign as a first-half substitute away at Manchester City.

Dummett has since appeared a further two times for the first-team - in the Capital One Cup against Morecambe and Leeds United.
