St. Mirren are still waiting for their first win of the campaign after Saturday's Scottish Premier League defeat to Motherwell.
Last season's Scottish League Cup winners have suffered a miserable start to this term despite the best efforts of Conor Newton, who played another full 90 minutes at the weekend.
The midfielder thought he had won a penalty when he went over after being clipped by Keith Lasley and referee Craig Thomson pointed to the spot - but then changed his mind and awarded a free-kick instead.
In League Two, Accrington Stanley are also struggling and Michael Richardson started their latest defeat, away to Hartlepool.
He played for 85 minutes but his side lost 2-1 to Pools, who claimed their first victory of the season.
Shane Ferguson appeared as a 55th minute substitute for Birmingham but they were beaten 1-0 by Queens Park Rangers.

On Sunday, Mehdi Abeid played the whole game for Panathinaikos as they drew 1-1 at Platanias while on Friday, Romain Amalfitano made his debut for Dijon. He entered the fray in the 71st minute of their 0-0 draw with Bastia.
