Loan Watch: Still Waiting

St. Mirren are still waiting for their first win of the season as Conor Newton and his team-mates suffered another defeat at the weekend

St. Mirren are still waiting for their first win of the campaign after Saturday's Scottish Premier League defeat to Motherwell.

Last season's Scottish League Cup winners have suffered a miserable start to this term despite the best efforts of Conor Newton, who played another full 90 minutes at the weekend.

The midfielder thought he had won a penalty when he went over after being clipped by Keith Lasley and referee Craig Thomson pointed to the spot - but then changed his mind and awarded a free-kick instead.

In League Two, Accrington Stanley are also struggling and Michael Richardson started their latest defeat, away to Hartlepool.

He played for 85 minutes but his side lost 2-1 to Pools, who claimed their first victory of the season.

Shane Ferguson appeared as a 55th minute substitute for Birmingham but they were beaten 1-0 by Queens Park Rangers.

In the Skrill North, Jonathan Mitchell helped Workington to a 4-2 victory over Gloucester City while, back north of the border, Steven Logan was an unused substitute for Annan as they beat Stirling Albion.

On Sunday, Mehdi Abeid played the whole game for Panathinaikos as they drew 1-1 at Platanias while on Friday, Romain Amalfitano made his debut for Dijon. He entered the fray in the 71st minute of their 0-0 draw with Bastia.
