Young Lions Lose To Italy

Written by Newcastle Utd

Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong both started as England under-17s lost to Italy but Daniel Barlaser helped Turkey beat Portugal

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Adam Armstrong and Freddie Woodman both started in England under-17s' final match of the FA International Tournament but the Young Lions were beaten by Italy on Sunday.

John Peacock's side fell behind to an early Ivan Francesco De Santis goal before Ryan Ledson equalised.

But Valerio Trani won the game in the 50th minute - by which time Woodman had been replaced between the sticks by Ryan Huddart.

Armstrong played the whole match but failed to add to his goal against Turkey on Friday.

Meanwhile, Daniel Baralser was involved for Turkey as they beat eventual tournament winners Portugal 2-0.
