Dummett Given Wales Call

Written by Newcastle Utd

United defender Paul Dummett has been called into the Wales senior squad for the first time

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has been called into the Wales senior squad for the first time ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Serbia.

The left-back, who has previously represented Wales at youth and under-21 level, has been drafted in following the withdrawals of Birmingham defender Neal Eardley and Liverpool's Joe Allen.

Dummett could make his debut if he features in either fixture, with Wales travelling to Macedonia on Friday night, before taking on Serbia at home next Tuesday.

It caps a remarkable summer for the 21-year-old Academy product, who impressed for the Magpies during their pre-season friendlies and went on to make his Premier League debut on the opening day of the campaign as a first-half substitute away at Manchester City.
