Foy's The Boy For Fulham

Written by Newcastle Utd

Lancashire-based Chris Foy will be the referee when Newcastle host Fulham on Saturday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Chris Foy will be the referee when Newcastle United take on Fulham on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The Lancashire-based official took charge of three Magpies matches last term: a 2-1 home victory over West Brom at the end of October, the 7-3 defeat away at Arsenal in December and a 4-2 Tyneside triumph against Southampton in February.

Foy started officiating in 1983 and worked his way up the ranks before becoming a Premier League referee in 2001 - with his first appointment coming in December of that year as Bolton and Charlton played out a goalless draw. He was in charge of the 2009 League Cup final and the following year's FA Cup final.

On Saturday at St. James' Park, Foy will be assisted by Andy Garratt and Richard West, with Neil Swarbrick the game's fourth official.
