Despite another Shane Ferguson assist, Birmingham City were beaten 3-2 by Leicester at the weekend.
The Newcastle man's cross was headed home by Matt Green in the 12th minute as the Blues went ahead but were unable to claim the points as Ferguson was substituted in the 78th minute.
Indeed, it was an unsuccessful weekend for United's loan stars. Conor Newton played the whole game for St. Mirren as they lost 3-0 to Ross County and Mehdi Abeid was an 85th minute substitute as Panathinaikos were beaten by the same scoreline at Panionios.
Accrington Stanley lost 1-0 to Cheltenham, with Michael Richardson playing for the first 82 minutes, and Jonathan Mitchell's Workington slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Vauxhall Motors with the young goalkeeper playing a matter of hours after turning out for United's under-21s against Middlesbrough on Friday night.
Carlisle picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Colchester but Adam Campbell was an unused substitute while James Tavernier has now returned to Tyneside after his loan spell at Shrewsbury was interrupted by injury.
