Loan Watch: Mitchell Is Glad As A Hatter

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle's Jonathan Mitchell was part of a fine Workington rearguard action against Stockport on Tuesday night

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Jonathan Mitchell put in a solid goalkeeping display as Workington gained a point against Stockport County with a battling display at Borough Park on Tuesday night.

The teenager made one fine save as well as a couple of important blocks as the Reds drew 1-1 with the Hatters, managed by former Newcastle midfielder Ian Bogie.

Kyle May gave the home side a first half lead but after the break, Stockport dominated and equalised through Kristian Dennis, who had time to pick his spot and drive the ball past Mitchell.

It was the Magpies goalkeeper's second appearance since rejoining Workington on loan, having spent part of last season with the Skrill North side.

His third is likely to come at home to Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.
