Gael Bigirimana will make his first appearance for Newcastle since representing England at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup during the summer when the Magpies kick off their Barclays Under-21 Premier League campaign at Reading on Monday (kick-off 7pm).

The midfielder is included in Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's squad for the match at the Madejski Stadium, having been given an extended break following his international exploits.

Adam Campbell is also in the party which headed to Berkshire by coach on Sunday while goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, who limped out of the recent pre-season friendly against Gateshead, is fit enough to play.

New signing Olivier Kemen is involved too, while England under-16 international Adam Armstrong could make his second-string debut after shining for Dave Watson's juniors in the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.

Admission at the Royals' stadium is £4 for adults and £2 concessions and tickets must be bought from the main ticket office. Seats will be unreserved in the West Stand Lower.

The squad is: Jak Alnwick, Adam Armstrong, Gael Bigirimana, Macauley Booth, Adam Campbell, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Gilliead, Curtis Good, Tom Heardman, Olivier Kemen, Steven Logan, Brandon Miele, Jonathan Mitchell, Jonathyn Quinn, Jamie Sterry, Remie Streete.
