Norway Through For Ben

Written by Newcastle Utd

Ben Drennan made his third appearance of the Nordic Tournament as England were held to a draw by hosts Norway

England under-17s were held to a 1-1 draw by Norway on Thursday in the Nordic Tournament as Newcastle's Ben Drennan made his third appearance of the competition.

The Young Lions took the lead through Aston Villa's Corey Taylor but the host nation levelled four minutes later meaning England finished third in their group.

Ironically, as a result England will now face Norway again in their final match on Saturday morning - albeit a different Norway side as the hosts entered two squads into the competition.

Drennan played for the first 55 minutes on Thursday, having also started - and played the whole match - in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Finland.

The midfielder had made his international debut as a substitute on Monday in a 1-0 win over the Faroe Islands.
