Gosling Grafting For An Opportunity

Dan Gosling insists he still wants to be a part of things at Newcastle United and will grab every opportunity that comes his way with both hands.
And if the midfielder's performance at St. Mirren on Tuesday night is anything to go by, then he could have plenty to offer at St. James' Park during the 2013/14 campaign.
Arguably the Magpies' best player in a 2-0 pre-season victory in Paisley, Gosling caught the eye in a role just behind lone striker Papiss Cisse, regularly creating chances for the Senegalese front man and nearly scoring a couple of his own.
It was his first outing of pre-season and having seen a move to Premier League new boys Crystal Palace fall through, the 23-year-old was philosophical about what the future holds.
"There was obviously something last week which was meant to be happening but it didn't go through," Gosling told nufc.co.uk.
"So I'm still a Newcastle player and happy to be a Newcastle player. I love being here, the fans are great with me and I just want to continue playing football.
"We have a very talented group of players at this Club but every time I get the opportunity to play I will give it everything I've got."
"That's the only thing you can do. I will make sure that every time I have a chance - whether it's pre-season or a league game - I will go out and show what I can do."
Gosling's impressive display helped Cisse and full-back Mathieu Debuchy notch the goals which earned United their third win from five warm-up games.
And the former Plymouth and Everton man is now keen to transfer his hard work on the training pitch into more minutes in the Newcastle shirt.
"I've done a lot of running over the last few weeks. I'm still behind a few of the lads and am trying to catch up as best I can, and games like this will only help me," he explained.
"There's nothing like playing games to get you properly fit. This was my first one and hopefully there's more to come.
"The keeper pulled off a worldie from one in the first half and then I fluffed a header in the second half and had a few other half chances. But overall I was happy with my contribution."
