Loan Watch: Shane's Second Coming

Written by Newcastle Utd

Shane Ferguson made his second debut for Birmingham in a friendly defeat at Shrewsbury on Tuesday night

Just hours after his season-long loan move to Birmingham was confirmed, Shane Ferguson made his second debut for the Blues on Tuesday night.

The Northern Irishman, who spent a successful period with the Midlands club last term, was named on the bench for Lee Clark's side in their friendly at Shrewsbury Town but was introduced in the 63rd minute.

Birmingham were trailing 2-1 but quickly equalised through Chris Burke - only to concede two late goals to lose 4-2.

Former Newcastle midfielder Clark told his club's official website: "We did get ourselves back in the game but then you gave another two, bang average, goals away. A straight ball over the top and then a poor decision for the third goal, and then for someone to get that amount of space to turn on the edge of the box is crazy."

City have one more pre-season friendly, at home to Hull on Saturday, before kicking off their Championship campaign against Watford at St. Andrew's on Saturday, 3rd August.
