A focused Adam Campbell is determined not to stand still after his breakthrough year last season

Last season was a momentous one for Adam Campbell but the teenager is looking to make even more progress in the new campaign after returning to the training ground on Thursday.
The 18-year-old started last pre-season at the Little Benton Academy but was catapulted into the senior squad for a friendly at Cardiff before becoming Newcastle's youngest European debutant against Atromitos last August.
He went on to make three appearances in the Barclays Premier League and was called up by England for their European Under-19 Championship qualifiers to cap a memorable few months.
But that has simply served to whet his appetite and, having returned from a short holiday in Ayia Napa for testing this week ahead of training beginning in earnest at the weekend, he has set his sights on achieving even more in 2013/14.
"I've never dreamt of being here this quickly so it's all happened very fast for me," Campbell told nufc.co.uk, who have followed his burgeoning career from the very start.
"But I'm loving it at the moment and hopefully I can kick on next year and really get myself into the team properly and show what I can do.
"I've got a little taste for it now and obviously the gaffer helped me out last season. He was very kind to me and gave me a chance but next season I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that I get in his team regularly and get a lot more time on the pitch."
