Australia lost to El Salvador in their second game in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup as their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday.
Curtis Good skippered the Young Socceroos, who took the lead through a fine strike from the bearded Josh Brillante after nine minutes.
But Diego Coca equalised eight minutes later before Jose Pena scored what proved to be the winner in the 40th minute.
It was El Salvador's first ever win at an 11-a-side FIFA competition and means Australia - who drew with Colombia in their opening game - must now beat hosts Turkey to stand a chance of progressing in the tournament.
On Wednesday, Good's Newcastle team-mate Gael Bigirimana will hope to be involved when England take on Chile in Group E. Peter Taylor's Young Lions drew 2-2 with Iraq in their opening game.
