Shane Ferguson made his tenth appearance for Birmingham City as Lee Clark's men took on Ipswich - but it was no perfect ten for the Newcastle loanee.
The Blues were beaten 3-1 at Portman Road with the Northern Irishman playing the whole match and providing the assist for Chris Burke's late consolation.
Elsewhere in the Championship Sammy Ameobi was not involved as Middlesbrough came from two down to draw with Charlton at the Riverside.
Bradden Inman, who had played the full 90 minutes in Crewe's 1-0 midweek win over Sheffield United, was on the bench as the Railwaymen named a starting XI made up entirely of graduates from their renowned Academy in their final match of the campaign against Walsall.
They won 2-0, with Inman appearing as a 64th minute to make his 26th - and final - appearance for the club. He scored eight goals from midfield and lifted the Johnstone's Paint Trophy during his time at the Alexandra Stadium.
In the Scottish Premier League, Paul Dummett and Conor Newton both played 90 minutes for St. Mirren at Hibernian as the Buddies drew 3-3 in a thrilling affair at Easter Road.
And earlier in the day, St. Johnstone kept their European hopes alive with a 1-0 win over ten-man Inverness, with Mehdi Abeid starting for the Saints.
However, after a lively 42 minute showing which saw him hit the woodwork, he came off injured before Steven MacLean's 77th minute winner for the men from Perth.
