Newcastle entertain the Reds of Liverpool on Saturday at St. James' Park, looking for the win that would almost certainly ensure their Premier League status for another season.

United are edging towards safety while Liverpool's main challenge now is to finish above local rivals Everton following a run of just one win in five.

The Magpies have won four of their last five at home and also six of their 13 hosting teams placed between fourth and tenth since the start of the 2010/11 season, scoring first on nine occasions.

Liverpool have lost this fixture in the past two seasons and have conceded first in half of their last eight trips to bottom-half sides. Newcastle have won five of their last 12 home games against top-half teams and it's worth noting that four of those five were HT/ FT doubles.

Newcastle could grab a vital home win here, but playing the Half Time/ Full Time markets could offer the best rewards. HT/FT Newcastle/Newcastle is an appealing 5.50.

There have been over 2.5 goals in nine out of 11 Newcastle home matches this seasonand in nine out of ten Liverpool away matches against teams in the bottom six.

The Reds' defence has been a major problem this term as they have conceded on average 1.5 goals away from home. Thirteen of their 17 away games have seen at least three goals, with just under half seeing four goals or more.

There have also been three or more goals in seven of the last nine meetings between these sides, and in four of the last five at Newcastle.

There is a tendency for teams in the middle third to have low scoring games at this point in the season, but with Newcastle still theoretically not out of the woods, the team goal trends should still play out here.

You can get Over 2.5 match goals @ 1.91.

In terms of finding the back of the net,Papiss Cisse looks the most likely first goalscorer here at 8.00, while teammate Yohan Cabaye is another attractive option at 13.0.
