Loan Watch: Two Wins

Written by Newcastle Utd

Shane Ferguson and Sammy Ameobi helped their respective clubs record victories but Bradden Inman's Crewe were beaten on Tuesday night

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Sammy Ameobi and Shane Ferguson both helped their respective loan clubs pick up three points in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Middlesbrough have been in awful form of late but beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the Riverside to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.

Ameobi played for 70 minutes as Mustapha Carayol's 42nd minute goal proved the difference.

Meanwhile, Birmingham won 1-0 at Bristol City - a result which saw the Robins relegated.

Ferguson started and played for 64 minutes before being replaced by Chris Burke, with the Blues already leading through Wade Elliott.

However, Crewe Alexandra didn't fare so well in League One as they lost 4-1 at Swindon Town.

Bradden Inman appeared as a 68th minute substitute with his side already 3-1 down. However, the Australian midfielder had better news earlier this week when he picked up the Railwaymen's goal of the season award for his solo strike against Coventry in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy area final.
