The son of Magpies legend Hughie Gallacher was at St. James' Park on Sunday to watch the game against Sunderland.
And Matty Gallacher - whose father had a happy habit of scoring against the Wearsiders during his 1920s heyday - was delighted to accept Hughie's posthumous Newcastle United Foundation Hall of Fame award.
Scotsman Hughie was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the inaugral annual dinner last month and Matty, who was born on Tyneside, flew in from South Africa to pick up the award.
Matty turns 70 this month and attending the derby was one of his birthday presents. The result may have been disappointing but he was still proud to receive the award on behalf of his late, great father.
Despite standing at just 5ft 5ins tall, Hughie scored a remarkable 463 goals in 624 career appearances, including 143 in 174 for Newcastle.
