Loan Watch: Boro Beaten Again

Written by Newcastle Utd

Sammy Ameobi, Shane Ferguson and Bradden Inman were all in action for their loan clubs this weekend

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Sammy Ameobi was named on the bench as Middlesbrough hosted Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

The England under-21 ace was brought on after 62 minutes, after Andre Orlandi had given the Sussex side the lead.

But David Lopez added a second to keep Brighton's play-off challenge on track - and kill off any lingering hopes of Tony Mowbray's side finishing in the top six.

In League One, meanwhile, Bradden Inman started as Crewe took on leaders Doncaster.

But despite taking the lead through Max Clayton, Billy Paynter scored twice in the second half to give Rovers a 2-1 win.

On Friday evening, Shane Ferguson played for 83 minutes as Birmingham drew 2-2 with Leicester.
