Both of the Newcastle United loan stars in Good Friday action were on target for their respective clubs as Shane Ferguson and Bradden Inman both found the net.
Ferguson scored his first senior goal in Birmingham's surprise 4-0 win at promotion chasing Crystal Palace with a magnificent free-kick and also claimed an assist at Selhurst Park.
After Nathan Redmond had given Lee Clark's side the lead, Ferguson's dangerous right-wing corner was headed into his own net by Palace defender Damien Delaney in the 32nd minute.
Ravel Morrison made it 3-0 before, in front of the Sky Sports cameras, Ferguson stepped up to curl home from 20 yards in the 69th minute. The Northern Ireland international was replaced by former Magpies midfielder Darren Ambrose in the 88th minute.
Earlier, Inman warmed up nicely for next weekend's visit to Wembley with a goal on his return from injury.
The 21-year-old midfielder had missed Crewe's last five matches with an ankle injury and recently returned to Newcastle for treatment.
But he made his comeback as a 74th minute substitute against Bury and struck nine minutes later to put his side 2-1 up at Gigg Lane. He received a pass from Chuks Aneke and drove the ball past Cameron Belford for his seventh goal in 18 appearances for the Railwaymen.
Andy Bishop's last minute penalty gave the Shakers a share of the spoils but with the Alex's Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Southend taking place on Sunday, 7th April, Inman showed he is fit and ready for the big game.
Crewe boss Steve Davis told his club's official website: "That is what Brad can offer us. He scores goals from midfield, has a great shot and we have missed him. It is good to have him back with us."
On Saturday, Sammy Ameobi's Middlesbrough travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers while Sunday sees Paul Dummett and Conor Newton return to action for the first time since winning the Scottish League Cup when St. Mirren host Celtic.
Mehdi Abeid's St. Johnstone face Dundee United on Easter Monday while Crewe are in action again with Preston the visitors.
