Conor Newton scored while Paul Dummett set up a goal in St. Mirren's dramatic Scottish League Cup final victory over Hearts

Newcastle youngsters Conor Newton and Paul Dummett helped St. Mirren end their near 26-year wait for a major trophy as they lifted the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park.
In front of a contingent of more than 100 friends and family who had made the trip from Tyneside, Midfielder Newton scored in a 3-2 win over Hearts while left-back Dummett set up a goal on Sunday.
The pair both started on the Buddies' big day, with Dummett coming in for Graham Carey in the only change from the side which beat Celtic by the same scoreline at the semi-final stage.
In the tenth minute, Ryan Stevenson put the Jambos in front before John Sutton headed against a post. However, the Saints equalised in the 37th minute through Esmael Goncalves, who was booked for his celebration.
And then just a minute into the second half, Dummett crossed for Steven Thompson to send the Paisley supporters in the 44,036 crowd wild.
Even better was to come in the 66th minute as Newton chose the perfect moment to score his first senior goal, spectacularly driving home from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-1.
And that proved to be the winner, as Stevenson pulled one back in the 85th minute before striking against the woodwork with seconds remaining. It wasn't enough for Hearts, though, as Newton, Dummett and their team-mates clinched the trophy for the first time and wrote themselves into St. Mirren folklore.
