Deniz Aytekin will be the man in the middle when Newcastle take on Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday night

German referee Deniz Aytekin will take charge of Thursday's Europa League round of 16 second leg tie against Anzhi Makhachkala (kick-off 8.05pm).

The 34-year-old Bavarian official refereed his first Bundesliga match in September 2008 and he has refereed in the Europa League, Champions League and one international match this season between Bosnia Herzegovina and Latvia.

In total he has overseen 31 matches, showing 125 yellow cards, 11 red cards and awarded 16 penalties.

His assistants will be compatriots Guido Kleve and Stefan Lupp while Thorsten Schiffner will be the fourth official.

The additional assistant referees are Marco Fritz and Robert Hartmann.
