Loan Watch: Abeid Shines For Saints

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mehdi Abeid impressed for St. Johnstone while Paul Dummett and Conor Newton were also in action on Saturday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Mehdi Abeid impressed for St. Johnstone on Saturday, but couldn't inspire his side to victory against Ross County.

The Magpies midfielder pulled the strings throughout and came close to scoring but the Perth outfit lost 1-0 to a solitary Ivan Sproule goal on 11 minutes.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premier League, Conor Newton and Paul Dummett suffered a similar fate as St. Mirren lost 1-0 to Hibernian.

Dummett played the full 90 minutes while Newton was replaced by Dougie Imrie with nine minutes to go.

Crewe Alexandra and Bradden Inman were without a game while in League Two. Michael Richardson watched from the bench as Gillingham beat Dagenham and Redbridge 2-1 to go top of the table.

Curtis Good was also an unused substitute as Bradford lost 2-1 to AFC Wimbledon while Jonathan Mitchell was unavailable for Workington against Altrincham as he was with his parent club at the Torneo di Viareggio.
