Newcastle United 3 (Gutierrez 41 Sissoko 68, 90)
Chelsea 2 (Lampard 55, Mata 61)
SECOND HALF UPDATES
90+4mins: A fantastic game of football ends with Newcastle United beating the champions of Europe to register back-to-back victories. After a great first-half display from the Magpies in the first half, when they led 1-0, Chelsea turned the game around. But then up stepped Moussa Sissoko to score twice, including a late, great strike to win the game. The players are cheered to the rafters as they leave the pitch and rightly so.
90+3mins: A vital, vital block from Taylor to keep out a goalbound shot from Lampard - Chelsea appealed for handball but it was made with his legs.
90+2mins: Mata is booked for a late tackle on Cabaye and St. James' Park is rocking - what an atmosphere.
90+1mins: The excellent Sissoko is replaced by fellow new boy Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for the final few minutes as United look to defend their lead.
90mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (3-2): Sissoko scores his second and doesn't he deserve it? The Frenchman looked to have over-ran the ball before poking it out to Santon on the left and then raced to get on the end of the Italian's delivery, driving low and hard beyond Cech. There will be four minutes of stoppage time.
85mins: Sylvain Marveaux - wearing a pair of tights - is on for Gouffran, who will have impresssed many on his home bow. And the new arrival's first touch sees him deliver from the left for Cisse, who swivels and shoots over the bar.
84mins: Oscar is causing problems for Newcastle and after jinking into the box, his cross falls to Lampard who blazes over.
83mins: More thrilling football from United, who were defending in their own box when Debuchy siezed possession and broke, played in Gouffran who in turn fed Sissoko. He burst forward again and toe-poked goalwards, with Cech relieved to save at his near post.
80mins: Sissoko finds Cisse, who cuts inside and unleashes a swerving shot which goes over the bar. The number nine looks full of confidence after his goal in midweek.
76mins: Steven Taylor makes a great block with his head, which must still be sore after being treated a couple of minutes earlier, to get in the way of an Ashley Cole strike. Brave defending from the centre-back.
72mins: Sissoko almost grabs a second - after a Chelsea attack, Gouffran clears the ball and the French powerhouse sprints after it, somehow streaking past Cole - who had a ten yard head start - and bursting towards the box with his shot touched wide by Cech. The resulting corner is half-cleared before Cabaye sends a low strike just wide. Newcastle are now down to ten men as Steven Taylor receives treatment for a head injury. Then there's a confrontation on the touchline between the two sets of coaching staff which fourth official Stuart Attwell eventually manages to calm down as Taylor returns to the field.
68mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (2-2): An equaliser for Newcastle which owes everything to slick, attacking football from the Magpies - and it's a goal made in France. Senegalese star Cisse pokes a great ball to the pacy Gouffran on the halfway line, with the new boy's speed taking him clear and allowing him to drill in a shot from 16 yards. Cech saves but can only palm it straight to Sissoko, who keeps his composure to sidefoot into the unguarded net. He has been tremendous this afternoon and now has a goal on his home debut.
66mins: Ivanovic tries to lob Krul from inside his own half and for a second looks like he could succeed as the Newcastle keeper appears to stumble, but is able to backpedal enough to hold onto the ball. The game is now quite stretched.
64mins: Sissoko plays a wonderful ball to Santon on the United left and his cross is about to be headed home by Cisse only for Terry to steal it away at the last second.
64mins: Oscar makes progress down the left and dinks the ball in for Mata, whose first-time effort goes over the bar.
61mins - CHELSEA GOAL (1-2): Mata makes it 2-1 to the visitors to completely turn this game around. Ivanovic pulled the ball back from the right, Torres held it up and laid it off and Mata curled a glorious finish past Krul from 14 yards. Ashley Cole and Papiss Cisse had both been booked just before the goal after squaring up to each other.
60mins: Oscar pokes the ball out to Mata on the left and his cross is headed towards his own goal by Gutierrez, with Krul well positioned to grab the ball. Chelsea have been lifted by their goal and for the first time today are causing real problems for the Magpies defence.
59mins: Lampard goes down under Cabaye's challenge and whips in a dangerous free-kick from the right which Branislav Ivanovic dives to meet but can only head wide.
55mins - CHELSEA GOAL (1-1): From absolutely nowhere, Chelsea are level. Cole played the ball inside to Lampard on the edge of the area and his dipping shot flew past Krul to deny the Newcastle keeper a clean sheet on his 100th appearance. That's what Lampard has done all through his career for club and country.
46mins: Newcastle get the second half started, kicking towards the Leazes end - can they maintain their level of performance in front of this 52,314 crowd?
FIRST HALF UPDATES
45+4mins: It's half-time and Newcastle are great value for their 1-0 lead. Demba Ba had two decent chances for Chelsea but has since been forced off with a bloody nose and Jonas Gutierrez's goal is the difference at the break. Click here for Anthony Marshall's half-time report.
45+3mins: James Perch is booked for throwing the ball away - he'd just ran the ball out of play and knocked the ball away from Ashley Cole as the Chelsea man tried to take a quick throw.
45+2mins: A floated corner from Cabaye is missed by the whole Blues defence and it takes a last-ditch block from Ryan Bertrand to keep out Sissoko's shot. Chelsea make hard work of dealing with the next flag-kick too - they looked rather vulnerable from set-pieces this afternoon.
45mins: There will be four minutes of stoppage time added, which takes into account injuries to Gutierrez, Ba and Ramires.
42mins: Ba's afternoon is over - he can't continue with this blow to his nose and so reluctantly heads off to be replaced by Fernando Torres.
41mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (1-0): The Magpies are deservedly ahead and it's Gutierrez who is the unlikely scorer. The outstanding Cabaye is at the hub, with a great ball out to Santon on the left, and the Italian's cross is a thing of beauty. Gutierrez gets the slightest of touches to it to nudge it past the helpless Cech and the stadium erupts. It's a sweet moment for the Argentine, who hasn't been in the best form in recent weeks but has looked back to his best today.
40mins: The battered Ba is now back with masses of strapping around his nose - it's covering both of his nostrils.
38mins: Ba is still off the pitch and now Ramires limps off too, meaning Chelsea have only nine men for a few seconds although the midfielder is able to rejoin the action as Gouffran sends a low shot well wide.
36mins: A shot from Cabaye deflects off a blue shirt and falls perfectly to Cisse, who is denied by a superb save from Cech. The United striker went for placement over power but the keeper got down well to push it away. He's had two decent chances and on balance, the Magpies will feel they should be ahead.
33mins: Demba Ba has two bites of the cherry to score on his return to Tyneside - and fails to take either of them. First he outpaces Fabricio Coloccini and his low shot is pushed away by Tim Krul, but the ball falls straight to the Senegalese striker whose follow-up header drops agonisingly wide of the open goal. Ba is then hurt as Coloccini tries to clear, with blood streaming from his nose, and Chelsea are down to ten men for the moment.
30mins: Ramires is booked for a foul on Jonas Gutierrez as the pair went in for a 50-50, but Alan Pardew was convinced it should have been a red card. The midfielder appeared to go in with two feet and left Gutierrez rolling around in agony, but Howard Webb showed only a yellow. Gutierrez eventually gets to his feet and will be able to play on.
28mins: Cahill makes a hash of dealing with a low cross from Gouffran and tees up Sissoko for a shot, but the midfielder blasts wide from just outside the box. It really has been a good performance from Newcastle until now.
23mins: Newcastle are dominating again and after some great build-up play, Mathieu Debuchy crosses from the right towards Gouffran; a defender does enough to hold the Frenchman off but the ball falls to Santon 22 yards from goal and his excellent volley flashes inches wide of the far post as Cech simply stands and hopes.
21mins: Another effort from Cabaye, this time a half-volley similar to the one he scored from at Aston Villa in midweek but with one big difference - this one is off target.
20mins: Two half-chances for Newcastle in the space of a minute, just as Chelsea were threatening to get on top. First Cabaye saw a long-range effort fielded by Cech, then Sissoko played a neat ball to Cisse in the box but his shot wasn't quite of his usual standard and Cech fell to his left to save. Alan Pardew was clearly frustrated that the number nine didn't finish that one off.
19mins: Oscar, the Brazilian midfielder, finds a yard of space 20 yards from goal and lets fly but doesn't get enough dip to prevent the ball from sailing into the Leazes end.
15mins: Juan Mata shows great vision to pick out Ashley Cole on the left with an inventive pass and the England left-back cuts the ball back for Frank Lampard, who fires well over from 18 yards with Chelsea's first shot of the game.
7mins: Now, after the strong Sissoko feeds Gouffran who in turn finds Davide Santon, the Italian jinks into the box in typical style and sends a low shot too close to Cech.
5mins: Papiss Cisse and Moussa Sissoko combine beautifully to allow the former to shoot from the edge of the area, with Gary Cahill sliding in to make a vital block. It's been a strong start from the Magpies, who are bossing possession as Yohan Cabaye pulls the strings.
1min: Newcastle will attack towards the Gallowgate end in this first half as Chelsea take kick-off, wearng their blue home hit - United are, of course, in black and white. Inside the first 40 seconds, Yoan Gouffran shoots on the turn from inside the box but fails to get enough power behind his effort to seriously test Petr Cech, although it's an early shot on target.
