Reading v Newcastle

Newcastle United entertain Reading on Saturday in the Barclays Premier League (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies may have lost their last match at St. James' Park, against Everton, but the good news is that United have won seven of their last nine home games after losing the previous home match.

In addition, all of Newcastle's home defeats this season have been against teams in the top 11 and they have won their three games against bottom six sides.

By contrast, Reading have lost nine of 11 away matches since being promoted, and one of their two points on the road came at bottom-of-the-table Queens Park Rangers.

The Royals have also tasted defeat in their last six away games and, historically, Premier League teams on a similar streak have lost their next away match in nine out of 17 games since 2007/08.

Therefore, Newcastle look great value for the home win at 1.83.

Alan Pardew's side have an excellent record against bottom six sides, having won nine of 11 home games against such teams since the start of last season.

It could still be a tight match though as Newcastle have won by more than a single goal just once at home this term, while Reading have had five 1-0 losses away from home this season.

We think correct score Newcastle 1-0 is great value at 8.50, however, betting 'no' on both teams to score is also worth a look at 2.20.

Papiss Cisse is the favourite to open the scoring on Saturday at 5.50, with Shola Ameobi at 7.50.
