Pardew Predicts Tough Brighton Test

Written by Newcastle Utd

Alan Pardew gives his reaction to Newcastle's FA Cup draw against Brighton, which will be screened on television

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Having been dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton and Hove Albion last season, Alan Pardew is keen to put things right this time around when the sides meet in the third round of the competition in January.

On Sunday, Newcastle were drawn out of the hat to face the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium - the scene of their 1-0 defeat when a Mike Williamson own goal separated the sides.

And while Magpies boss Pardew is determined to exact revenge in Sussex, he knows his troops will have to be at their best.

"It's a tough draw for us," said Pardew, about the tie, which will be screened live on ITV at 12.30pm on Saturday, 5th January, 2013.

"We lost there last year and I would like to think we will go back there with a renewed desire to put that right.

"It's a tough game - even last year we played quite well and still got beat."
