Travel Advice For Bordeaux

Some advice for Newcastle fans travelling to Bordeaux for next week's Europa League Group D meeting
Stadium - Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas, Ave du Parc de Lescure, Bordeaux
Travel documents - Valid passport, no visa required
Health care - EHIC card required as a minimum for treatment in France
Identification - Travellers should carry original ID at all times
Travel to stadium - Walking distance from city centre to stadium is 1.7 miles which takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes on foot. Supporters not wishing to walk can take taxis or use the modern tram service (Line A) which operates regular services to the stadium and will run at the end of the match to allow supporters to return to the city centre.
Bordeaux Police advice is as follows: "Supporters of Newcastle United FC could conveniently gather in the city centre of Bordeaux, the Place de la Victoire, where are also located in many pubs. From this place and about two hours before the match, (16:30or 17:00), supporters could then make a march to Chaban-Delmas stadium (about 30 min trip), supervised by police force, set up for the occasion."
At the stadium - The stadium will be open at 17.30. Newcastle supporters are advised to arrive well before the start of match as ticket and security checks can take up to an hour to complete before admittance to the stadium.
A large police contingent will control entry to the away supporters' area.
If you appear drunk you may be refused entry to the stadium.
All supporters will be searched prior to entry to stadium. The following items are banned in the stadium and will be confiscated (and are unlikely to be returned):

// Flagpoles, sticks
// Fireworks and flares
// Alcoholic drinks, bottles, glasses, and cans
// Knives, belts, chains or any objects which can be thrown or used as a weapon
// Bags
Alcohol is banned inside the stadium.
At the end of the match it is likely that Newcastle supporters will be held back for approximately 20 to 30 minutes while home team supporters disperse. An announcement to this effect will be made in English during the match.
