Shane Ferguson has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan later this month

Shane Ferguson has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan later this month.

The left-sided star is part of a 24-man party named by national boss Michael O'Neill for the fixture at Windsor Park, in Belfast, on Wednesday, 14th November (7.45pm kick-off).

Ferguson, who has five senior international caps and one goal to his name, has been in impressive club form for Newcastle whenever called upon this season.

The 21-year-old has weighed in with a couple of assists, while also started in the Premier League against Manchester United and Europa League home games against Bordeaux and Brugge.

Ferguson is the sixth Magpies player to be called up for international duty during November.
