Young defender Paul Dummett made his second appearance for St. Mirren on Saturday but unlike his first start, this one didn't quite go to plan.

The Buddies - who beat Hearts 2-0 on the 20-year-old's debut - lost 3-1 at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League to miss out on the opportunity to go top of the table.

Former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan opened the scoring for the hosts before James Fowler made it two.

A well-taken third from James Dayton killed off the game although Paul McGowan pulled one back late on for St. Mirren.

Dummett played the full 90 minutes and will now turn his attentions to two successive home games.

His temporary team host Hamilton on Tuesday in the Scottish League cup before returning to league action against Ross County.
