Academy duo Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong have been called up for the England under-16 squad for the young Lions' first Victory Shield match of the season.
Goalkeeper Woodman and forward Armstrong - both 15 - have been named in the party for a fixture in Northern Ireland on 27th September.
Woodman was involved as England won the annual four-team tournament last term, although he did not make the pitch. However, having won two caps for England under-17s at the Nordic Tournament last month - keeping clean sheets in both games - he is likely to figure much more prominently this time around.
He made his debut for United's Reserve team last season while still just 14 years old when he appeared as a second half substitute in a 3-1 friendly win over York.
Armstrong, meanwhile, was invited to an England training camp along with Newcastle team-mate James Atkinson last month and impressed enough to earn a place in Kenny Swain's squad.
Having established himself in Dave Watson's under-18s side this term, he made his second-string bow in this month's friendly at Berwick.
