Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley

Three days after Newcastle's under-18s beat their Stoke counterparts 1-0 at Little Benton, the two clubs' Reserves teams do battle at the Britannia Stadium on Monday evening (kick-off 7.30pm) in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.

Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley take a young squad to the Potteries as they look to build on their 6-4 opening day victory against Tottenham, which came thanks to an Adam Campbell hat-trick and goals from Curtis Good, Haris Vuckic and Bradden Inman.

Vuckic, who went on to score his first senior goal for the Club against Atromitos last week, is not included on this occasion but Campbell, Good and Inman have all travelled. Campbell, who made his debut in the Europa League last month, is one of two players with first-team experience for the Magpies; James Tavernier is the other.

Slovakian defender Lubo Satka, 16, is again involved at second-string level while fellow Academy player Alex Gilliead, the England under-16 international forward, could also feature after playing in that under-18s success on Saturday.

He made his Reserve team bow against West Bromwich Albion towards the end of last season, having scored his first goal for the under-18s against Stoke in March.

Stoke, managed by former player Dave Kevan, are seeking their first league win at this level, having lost to Aston Villa and Manchester United so far.

The squad is: Jak Alnwick, Jonathan Mitchell, Alex Nicholson, Michael Riley, James Tavernier, Curtis Good, Lubo Satka, Steven Logan, Conor Newton, Michael Richardson, Dennis Knight, Bradden Inman, Marcus Maddison, Adam Campbell, Alex Gilliead, JJ Hooper.
