United's left-back was stretchered off with just 11 minutes on the clock, having fallen to the floor in agony after landing awkwardly when hurdling a challenge.
Newcastle were forced into another change midway through the second half when James Perch suffered what looked like a neck complaint, but it was Taylor's withdrawal which worried the boss.
"I don't know yet, it just doesn't look particularly good, if I am honest. It's his knee," explained Pardew.
"I fear that the news isn't going to be good on that injury, which is a shame because he (Taylor) is an important player for us. We will have to wait and see.
"I think Perch's is not too serious. But the problem with all these games is that you lose players to injury and suspension. They mount up, so we have to be very, very careful."
