Newcastle United's youngsters will look to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Tottenham when they take on Southampton on Saturday (kick-off 11am).

Dave Watson's side set off by coach for the South Coast on Friday morning and will stay overnight ahead of the match at the Saints Academy, which has produced several famous players in recent years including Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, Leon Best and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Magpies are without their own most recent youth graduate, with Adam Campbell unavailable after making his first-team debut in Greece on Thursday night, while Jamaican winger Rolando Aarons didn't travel.

Liam Smith misses out through injury as do long-term absentees Alex Kitchen and Remie Streete, and Lubo Satka is on international duty with Slovakia under-18s.

But Newcastle do include England under-16 international striker Alex Gilliead while Adam Armstrong also features having recently returned from a training camp with the Young Lions.

The squad is: Jonathan Mitchell, Aidan Grant, Steven Logan, Lee Desmond, Jonathyn Quinn, Greg Olley, Ryan McKinnon, James Morgan, Esteban Cardona Lopez, Alex Gilliead, Daniel Barlaser, Jordan Storey, Jamie Cobain, Kyle Cameron, Adam Armstrong
