Alan Pardew has made nine changes to his Newcastle United starting line-up as they travel to Atromitos in the fourth qualifying round of the Europa League on Thursday night (8pm kick-off local time).

Just defender James Perch and striker Papiss Cisse remain from the weekend's victory over Tottenham Hotspur, as the manager gives his pack a shuffle at the Peristeri Stadium, in Athens.

There is a Magpies debut for summer signing Gael Bigirimana, who arrived from Coventry City, while Vurnon Anita makes his full debut for the Club - and the duo will form the engine room of the midfield.

It will be a 4-2-3-1 formation for United, with youngster James Tavernier, Perch, captain for the night Mike Williamson and Ryan Taylor making up their defence, in front of keeper Steve Harper.

Cisse will lead the line on his own, and will be supported by Gabriel Obertan, Dan Gosling and Sylvain Marveaux, who will be hoping to take his impressive pre-season displays into this tie.

On the substitutes' bench is almost all of the rest of the party who travelled to Greece, with the only exception being Danny Simpson.

The replacements include teenager Adam Campbell, and if the Academy striker makes an appearance he will become United's youngest ever European debutant at 17 years and 236 days.

The record was previously held by Andy Carroll (17 years and 300 days).
